A Year or Two Later: The UW Libraries Research Commons

Abstract

Lauren Ray will describe what she’s learned in her experience overseeing the development of a new and experimental library space at the University of Washington. She’ll describe how the Research Commons has benefitted from the development of campus partnerships, and takeaways from the user assessments conducted in the first two years. She will also talk about expectations for the space prior to opening, as well as the challenges and opportunities that exist with an evolving space. She will share work done to link the Research Commons space itself to “library” content through the development of interdisciplinary events.
