This video by Dr. R. Michael Fisher takes up a fearanalysis of the latest viral event: where a 16 year old (Nick Sandmann) white excited angry male, trying to be brave in front of his many Catholic highschool peers, stands in front to block an Indigenous elder (Nathan Phillips) and small handl-full of Indigenous youth in Washington, DC a few days ago. Fisher attempts to elevate the discourse and media-hype around this event to a more informed and mature evolutionary developmental perspective on how to better manage and transform fear/terror into higher consciousness, virtues and an emancipatory educational direction. There's great healing opportunity here beyond the spectacle. Fisher concludes his fearanalysis saying the young man represents fear (i.e., fear-based worldview) and the Indigenous elder represents fearlessness (i.e., a love-based worldview)--it is a philosophically and historically important educative moment for all, if we choose to learn from it beyond and outside of the typical discussions and debates (mostly fear-based themselves) now raging around this event.
