dc.description.abstract | To generate more power with higher quality and efficiency by wind turbines, control systems have an important role. One of the common control methods is gain scheduling control that guarantee control objectives of wind turbines. This project presents a Linear Parameter Varying (LPV) state-feedback gain scheduling controller and its implementation on a wind turbine system for wide envelope operating regions. The designed controller is mixed H_2and H_∞ with pole placement in LPV framework to cover all ranges of nonlinearities in the wind turbine dynamic system. To illustrate the performance of control methods, it is implemented on a 5 MW three bladed horizontal model of a wind turbine in simulator software for all operation regions. To show the development of controller performance, it is compared with its linear fixed-gain form in the high-speed region. The results demonstrate the improvement of the LPV controller in limiting generator torque and output power fluctuations. | en_US |
