When Fear Meets Fearlessness: 25 Years of 100 Technical Papers

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to describe the origin of R. Michael Fisher’s writing on the topic of “when fear meets fearlessness.” Although, he had written on the topic since late-1989, it was a significant move to self-publish what he called “Technical Papers” through the In Search of Fearlessness Research Institute he founded in 1991. After 25 years, there are now 100 such technical papers in circulation, most of which are easily accessible for free on the Internet. He reviews some of the major themes of these papers here in Technical Paper 100 and shares some of his vision for what will follow in the years ahead. The original 1989 In Search of Fearlessness Project, now called Fearlessness Movement, has more than ever grown to serve more and more people and causes but there is still so much work to be done as clearly fear/terror in excess increases and threatens all life on this planet.
