Abstract

Description

Map of writers collected through the Mapping Nineteenth-Century Writers project (https://victorians.ucalgary.ca/). This is an interactive map available at https://ucalgary.maps.arcgis.com/apps/dashboards/d67b4c5a6c964b5a8da1c22671852c8a. The map displays the lifetime addresses of more than one hundred and twenty Victorian writers, editors, and artists. These addresses include primary and secondary residences, workplaces, and schools. Location addresses were geocoded following the methods outlined in Karen Bourrier et al, “Mapping Victorian Homes and Haunts: A Methodological Introduction,” Journal of Victorian Culture, 26.2 (2021), pp. 300–309, https://doi.org/10.1093/jvcult/vcab003. The information regarding authors is worldwide. The map imagery used for the London area is: Map of London ; made from an actual survey in the years 1824, 1825, & 1826 by C. & J. Greenwood, extended and comprising the various improvements to 1830 ; engraved by Josiah Neele.
