This treatment package is intended for use by addictions counsellors who need additional resources to assist adolescent clients who are dealing with alcohol, other drug or gambling problems. The package is directed towards counsellors working in outpatient and inpatient treatment settings. There are five sections in this package designed to offer information and resources on specific issues related to alcohol and other drug use. This package is designed following the principles of the Stages of Change1 (Precontemplation, Contemplation, Preparation, Action, Maintenance) as developed by Prochaska, Norcross, and DiClemente. This resource will help counsellors provide information, awareness and tools to clients to help them move through the stages of change and achieve a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. The resource is intended to offer choices to the counsellor when working with clients, and is not meant to be a rigid program. Client pace in working through the material will depend on individual needs and readiness to change.en
