Abstract

his is an essay about scientific consensus. Two claims are made. Scientific consensus is a crucial social mechanism, facilitating science's future prospects and research projects. But not only this, scientific consensus holds implications for a key success designator in science: scientific objectivity. More specifically, scientific consensus and scientific objectivity can be at odds. Yet both are commonly seen as crucial for science. I suggest that consensus can hinder scientific objectivity.

On this land and in this place we strive to learn together, walk together, and grow together “in a good way.”
