Abstract

Wilber's transpersonal conceptualization of Thanatos and Phobos are interpreted as two patterns of 'fear' in development and evolution. It is suggested by Wilber's model and this author, that these 'fear' forces may be the source of the processes of pathology that undermine and derail evolutionary progress.
